Content suggestion is one of the most powerful feature of SimpleX. In a nutshell, it allows you to describe a topic by pointing at relevant answers fitting that topic, be it samples or actual answers... and have SimpleX suggesting relevant answers found in the active survey. With an amazing precision.
What kind of suggestions?
SimpleX suggest answers based on their semantic similarity with the topic "meaning".
Topic "meaning" is a mathematical representation of the average semantic meaning of answers fitting in the topic. It is computed based upon:
- the answers already belonging to the topic
- the samples provided as description of the topic
- if both previous are empty, the label of the topic
SimpleX will suggest text answers which are semantically similar to the answers already belonging to the topic and similar to the samples provided or both.
Samples are therefore particularly important for empty topics, all the more when the topic is empty.
For non-empty topics, samples are still taken into consideration, together with existing answers.
For topics empty of actual answers and short of any samples provided, the label of the topic will be used. While the suggest content feature will still work, relevance of suggestions are likely to be not as good.
Obtaining content suggestion
You can obtain suggestions to fill a topic at any time, although the behavior is slightly different for a newly created topic or an existing topic.
Obtaining content suggestions for a newly created topic
At topic creation, you are prompted to enter a label describing the topic and, optionally, samples. If you add at least one sample, then, next to the Create button, a Create and suggest content button will become active. If you consider that the label is the best sample you can provide, just type again the lable as a sample to make the button active.
Content suggestion will be based on the samples provided.
Suggestions will come from answers not belonging to any group.
Obtaining content suggestions for an existing topic
For an existing topic, by clicking on the ... at the right of the topic label in the left sidebar and select Suggest content
Content suggestion will be based on the actual answers belonging to the topic and samples if any provided before.
You can select if you prefer suggestions to come from answers not belonging to any group (default) or from all answers.

Tips for writing samples
It is tempting to enter only "keywords" as samples. It is the shortest way. Yet, while entering samples containing the expected keywords is definitely a good practice (especially if they are specific to the industry/issue), entering short sentences rather than just words will significantly improve model performance.
Indeed, SimpleX compares sentences/short paragraphs to sentences/short paragraphs and captures the full information contained in the sentence, beyond just words used. The problem with single words is that they are lacking the context (the one that you have in mind and that is so obvious for you...). For ex. "Nature" or "Plant" may have very different meaning depending of the context.
Therefore, in writing a full sentence, you add a precious extra information.
For example, say you are asking for suggestion for a topic "Planet" that you want to fill with all the answers mentioning about the preservation of the nature and planet resources.
Entering samples such as "Preserving the planet", "Taking care of natural resources", "Protecting the fauna and flora" will provide far better results than just entering as samples "Planet", "Nature" , "Animals", "Plants"

Entering samples
In order to enter samples for one given topic, click on Edit in the topic submenu
Enter your first sample in the Samples typing area. Type Enter to enter another sample. You are not limited in how many samples you enter.
Extensive research proves that 3 samples already provides very results, and that adding up to 10 samples can prove very effective. Beyond, the impact on performance is marginally positive.
Validating suggestions
After clicking on Click and suggest content or Suggest content/Suggest, a modal will be displayed with the top 15 answers most likely to fit the topic 😎
Now just select those that actually fit what you had in mind , click Save... and there you go: the selected suggested answers are now moved into the topic.
And again....
Answers are suggested with the ones computed as most relevant first. If you feel there are more than 15 answers out there, you just can redo the same one-click process. The benefit is that, for the second round, suggestions will take into account the answers that you have actually validated and therefore be even closer to guessing what you have in mind!
