File does not upload
If the file containing your data uploads properly, you will be notified of the success of the file upload. If not, consider the following issues:
- Incorrect format: SimpleX supports .xlsx and .csv file (and .csv/.xlsx extensions). Older formats (.xls) are not supported.
- File size too large: Check there are not non blank cell outside the zone containing your data
- Too many tabs: Remove useless tabs from your excel file... or switch to a mor powerful computer (memory issue)
- File corrupted: make sure the file does open properly with Excel. Consider saving another version of it.
- File encoding: the supported file encoding is utf-8 and utf8 with BOM
Fields do not display
Once your file uploaded, click on Continue and see the dialog modal containing the list of columns. If the modal does not display any field label, consider the following checks:
- The first row of your file contain field labels
Import crashes
If after clicking on Yes, I confirm, you are notified of the import error, consider sending support a message
Result is not as expected
Once your file imported - import semantic processing might take up to several minutes - check if the resulting console layout corresponds to your settings.
Text answers are in the center zone fo the console
Filters, on top of default filters Tags & Topics, are displayed in the right sidebar
Value filter (Multiple choice or Rating) if any will be displayed in the left sidebar
Some of the following issues might appear:
- Unexpected duplicates: potentially the case when imported cells contain formulas rather than values
- Blank text lines: the imported row was not fully empty, despite the fact that the column containing the text answer was empty for this row. See Prepare your spreadsheet in the page Import a survey
