Multiple Questions
Starting 2023 with a major upgrade to SimpleX

We will deploy soon (early February 2023) the long awaited Multiple Questions feature, that solves an important user frustration.
This is a major upgrade which has required structural changes on both front and back end of the application and will serve as a key enabler for new improvements.
Concept
From the new deploy onwards, a survey in SimpleX will be able to encompass several open questions from one given survey (plus of course all the other selected non-text questions).
Import and re-import will be made at the survey level. Importing answers from different open questions in the same spreadsheet will be processed all at once, in one go.
User benefits
Many users were frustrated by the fact that in SimpleX each open question equals one SimpleX survey. So importing data from a survey with five open questions hence five text answers fields required five different repetitive imports, although with the same settings.
More over, these surveys were completely distinct. Establishing bridges between them was not possible, switching from one to the other unpractical.
With the Multiple Questions system, the SimpleX survey mirrors the initial survey structure.
The import (and re import) process is simplified.
Switching from one question to another will be easy, using a dropdown in the top bar.
Shared information is saved at the survey level. A saved filter (ie a combination of elementary filters) can be applied to all the different questions of the same survey.

Survey management
As a consequence, the notion of ‘primary filter’ disappeared.
All filters are displayed on the right sidebar, leaving the topics in the left section if the console and the filter bar contains an identical selection of filters.
In order to facilitate filters management, an icon reflects the nature of each filter (multiple choice, NPS, rating, Yes/No, numerical…).
Each survey is displayed in the History page, with the foldable list of questions.

Survey tagging is now done at Survey level (not question level)
Sharing & deletion of surveys is made at survey level, not individual question level.
Version are saved at individual question level.
Content information such as #answers, #versions, #topics or last modified date is displayed at both version and question level.
New import procedure
The import process remains similar to the previous one, with some adjustments.
Option is still given between step-by-step and fast procedure.
In both cases, user is requested to map, in the source spreadsheet, the text answers column.s, one after the other, then the column containing filtering information, indicating the nature of each closed question:
- Yes/No
- Numerical
- Multiple choice
- Rating
- NPS
- …

The preview will display only the first question.
After validation, all questions are processed and imported.
It is worth stressing that the credit system is equivalent than previously in the sense of one quote = one credit.
Therefore, importing a survey with 3 open questions and 100 rows will therefore account for 3 x 100 = 300 credits.
Re-import is done also at the survey level.
It is strongly recommended to use a file with exactly the same structure ie #columns and 1st row headers.
- If an ID field was used during the first import, the re-import will base the import on this ID and automatically avoid duplicates.
- If not, the user will indicate from which row import should start
Re-importing with a different file structure is not prevented, but an alert will be displayed and further import will be made at user’s own risk.
Coming next
This major upgrade is also a preparatory step to our next new feature :
- SimpleX forms: building a on-line questionnaire and getting the results flowing automatically into SimpleX
- Additional charts to reflect the new wealth of filters
- Last but not least, Personas i.e. the ability to for a segment of respondents based on what they actually say will be soon available
